You're probably sat there with a brew reading this, thinking "I'm not creative". Well, here's some news for you, actually you are.
You're a Hooman who has been told, probably from an early age, that your drawings are rubbish or your singing is bad or your designs are pants. Maybe someone even keeps telling you that now.
It may be a family member, friend, employer... Whoever it is who told you this in the first place, has put a voice in your head that you now believe is yours. Well we have news for you, it's not yours. Tell it to go to bed.
If you keep telling yourself that you're not creative, then that's exactly what you will not be. If you're kinder to yourself and give your creative brainbox some space, who knows what adventures you could experience.
You can change this concrete mindset by experimenting with new creative ideas, fun ways of doing things and little changes in your self perception. It's not really concrete, it's more like hard soil. put some water on it and it becomes flexible again.
Don't be fooled into thinking creativity is limited to the arts, it can also be applied to business decisions, organisational tasks, cooking and even activities for the family.
We're led to believe that creativity means having a paintbrush in your hand or a ball of clay on your knees or writing the next number one hit. This couldn't be further from the truth. It's part of it, of course, but it's not the only way to be creative or to express your creative bubble-brain. You're a magical being!
So the next time you find yourself saying I'm not creative, take a step back and look at yourself. What can you say? What can you see?
